What is Karma? |
Karma can be described as the “Law of Cause and Effect" which means that everything we do has an effect, whether it is good or bad. Every action has a reaction. Good Karma results from action that is beneficial to ourselves and others, it is action carried out from a place of love, kindness, wisdom and compassion. Bad Karma results from action carried out with the intention of causing pain to ourselves or someone else. Karma is not fate, as we all have free will, it is simply the Universal Law that ensures what we give out, we get back, whether it is immediately, later in life, or even in the next life. Good creates good and bad or evil create bad or evil. Karma is not a form of punishment, it is purely the ‘effects of our actions’. It is a Law of the Universe that has no intervention from any supernatural being. Some people believe that we can diminish the effects of Karma by love and forgiveness of ourselves and others. Others believe that Karma determines whether we are re-incarnated into a superior human being next life, or whether we are re-born into less desirable circumstances, or a lower form such as an animal. |
