What is Hypnotherapy?

spiritual reality

Hypnotherapy is the practice of guiding a person into an altered state of consciousness via focussed attention, this altered state is free of the thinking mind.

hypnotherapy

There are four states of brain consciousness- they are full conscious awareness, the hypnotic state, the dream state and the sleep state. Under hypnosis, the brain waves enter into the hypnotic state. Without the analysing and judging of the clients thinking mind, which is the full conscious awareness state, the hypnotist can suggest behavioural changes or lifestyle changes to the person having the therapy.  Because the judging mind is not present, the hypnotist can make suggestions that will stick in the persons mind and are therefore able to be applied when that person is in a fully aware, day to day state, allowing for positive and permanent changes to that person’s experiences.

The person being hypnotised has to accept these suggestions or the therapy will not work.  For example, if someone decides to have hypnotherapy to give up smoking but they don’t really wish to give up smoking, they are just doing it to please everyone else, the hypnotherapy will not work.

Via hypnotherapy, a person is able to access subconscious beliefs at the very core of their problem whether they are on a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level.  By altering these beliefs at a subconscious level, the physical symptoms of illness etc automatically changes in a positive way.

Entering a hypnotic state allows a person access to traumatic past experiences and memories that have been blocked out, that may be having negative psychological affects on the persons life today.  Accessing these memories allows the person to deal with the emotional issues connected to the past experience, allowing closure and healing on all levels.

This therapy is carried out as the person being treated sits or lays fully clothed.
